Sandy (Lady C) Chamberlain - Vice-Chairperson.

Sandy has been married to Skeg for 15 years and has a 26 year old daughter and 5 year old grandson. The couple became kinship carers in 2008 for their 2 nieces who were 8 and 13 years at the time after they had already been placed with other family members before settling with Sandy and Skeg. Sandy gave up her career to be able to provide support and care for the children and studied a BA (horns) degree in Early Childhood Studies at Warwick University. During this time Sandy found support through a group on Facebook and Grandparents plus. Meeting other carers on a grandparents plus Lobby day set the ball in motion and Sandy became co- owner of the the kinship carers Facebook group, she was also the mastermind behind the famous blue handprint that is fast becoming a well recognised symbol for kinship care. Sandy has since graduated from university and now works with the local authority to provide support and training for carers.
